| Hi! My name is Michelle and I am a mother of two. I am really concerned about whether kids, especially mine should be watching Winx Club. My youngest daughter, who is 9, is constantly watching it online and on Nickelodeon and I do not like the messages this cartoon tells young girls. The show teaches that you always need to get revenge on people you don't like. Also the girls are so skinny and girls can start to feel that they need to look that way. My 18 year old daughter hasn't been eating and she's been throwing up and has anorexia because she says she wants to be skinny like the Winx. I am very worried about her and my younger daughter. The Winx always have boyfriends and I don't think its appropiate for my daughters to have boyfriends at their age. I srill need to take care of them. Their outfits are also too revealing and trashy and now my 9 year old daughter is going out and chasing after random boys and wearing revealing clothes because the Winx do it. My daughters are growing up too fast. | |

| Well if it wasn't appropriate would it be on Nick?

| Nick is not the best judge of what is good for our kids. Thats why I'm asking. I'm not stupid.

| Well they sure did treat it like a little kids show for season 5. I think Winx is appropriate. They at least don't make dirty jokes and stuff. Winx brings out the little kid in me (sometimes) and it's a huge part of my life now. Nick was going to cancel it so I freaked out but they are keeping it for season 7 at least. Anyways, I think the clothing they wear is pretty much appropriate, they really don't show off their stomachs as much as they used to The new transformations cover their stomachs. Mythix dresses might be a bit short though - Spoiler:
Sirenix and Bloomix basically almost cover the entire body

| I have to agree with Hannah. The winx's outfits are getting less revealing now which is nice. | |

| There's absolutely nothing wrong with revealing outfits. It's fine if someone wants to wear them, it's none of your business. Nothing wrong with having a boyfriend as long as it's a healthy relationship either (although Musa's and Riven's is shown to be pretty bad). My problem are the body shapes; the girls have one body shape and it's exaggeratedly thin. That's not good. Everyone looks pretty much the same except hair and colors and that's certainly not a good thing. Girls already have a ton of negative stereotypes pertaining to appearance thrown at them and this just adds onto it. | |

| By the way the show doesn't teach you that you have to get revenge on people you don't like. It's clearly stated in season 4 that vengeance is never the answer. Also they are fairies so I guess they are naturally skinny. I remember Stella saying in episode 25 in season 5 that after she eats a healthy breakfast, she would work it off. A good message I would say. Season 5 also told us to care for the environment. | |

Exercising a lot right after eating can be a sign of exercise bulimia, which is an eating disorder. That's hardly a good example. - rashid29 wrote:

This I actually do agree with though. It does so a bit oddly, but it is a moral that's held within the show.

I don't want my daughter going around being all promiscious? A boyfriend isnt bad in itself but for the girls who watch winx club, they are not even old enough to be having or need boyfriends. From personal experience, i know personal relationships at a young age can cause complications. Yes their body shapes are really unhealthy and that is what has caused my daughters anorexia because of this show. It sends an unhealthy message to kids. - rashid29 wrote:

Thats a form of bulimia which my daughter has. Not a good point. Also I remember Bloom joking with Stella about how "she can eat" as if she doesn't eat. Thats not healthy. - rashid29 wrote:

I've seen pictures of the Winx wearing short shorts or skirts and I think even now they still wear midriff tops. Not what I would want my daughters to be wearing.

| Anorexia is a mental issue; it's not caused by one thing. Something can add onto the chances, but it's not the only factor. And yes, I suppose in that case it's partly your business, but I don't see anything wrong with your daughter expressing herself how she wants to. Doesn't mean she's looking for attention. Just means she prefers to dress that way, just like how some people like wearing jeans while others prefer dresses.
Also what what Bloom joked with Stella about how she can eat? ummm yikes.
