Does Icy really need a Sirenix?

Ok, so it has come to my attention that Icy does not need to transform into her Sirenix to use her oil & ice combined powers. Then what will be the point of the Trix's Sirenix? They look pretty strong in this picture. It is shown that the girls are trying to evade Icy's shot. Why not use their powers shields? Will the Trix be any stronger than how they are in this picture? We will have to wait and see.

Well they'll probably be as strong as the Winx underwater so it's not an unfair fight

She probably needs it since there are Sirenix dolls and maybe the Underwater weakening applies to them. We haven't seen them battle underwater.

Honestly when they made that trailer I always though the intention was to keep the Trix having Sirenix a secret until they were good and ready to reveal it. They were doing a good job for the Winx until someone leaked the unfinished videos.
Besides, giving the Trix an actual real life transformation where they completely change their look and appearance rather than just adding pretty accessories or extra powers that don't last is a whole new thing for the
Trix.
Also them having this much strength is a whole new concept. do you realize that the Trix could have beaten the Winx badly at all three fights if they hadn't been interrupted. In the Lilo it was humans giving the Winx a power boost, in Back to Alphea it was Feragonda and in the Power of Harmonix it was the Rainbow Horse.
I think Nick wants to keep the Trix being a tough opponent. With Sirenix they might be out of their league and its also a cool consect to have a power that works for both Fairies and Witches.

I think the whole premise of getting Sirenix is to be more powerful than the Winx, so either way, it leads to the Trix getting their versions of Sirenix as well.
