In Greek Mythology, They have only mermaids. but Glaucus and King Neptune were the only mermen. so, In S3, It was originally only mermaids. That's why we only see mermaids in s3. When they were writing the script, I'm pretty sure they are all: Why not mermen?

In roman Mythology Neptune was Merman he was the god of the seas

There are no mermaids in Greek mythology, there are Sirens, who were half-women and half-bird. It's in medieval times that the half-fish form known in English-speaking countries as mermaids first appeared. Other however languages still use the name Siren for both the bird creature and the fish creature.

And Neptune is not a Greek god, he's a Roman equivalent of the Greek god Poseidon, who is the Lord of all the Seas, and both Neptune and Poseidon were depicted as having a human appearance in ancient times, it's in modern art that they came to be shown as mermen. But Triton, Poseidon's son, and Glaucus were indeed mermen, and there were other mermen in Greek myths but they were said to be horrible creatures. And the descendants of triton were also said to be mermen. In medieval legends the tritons became the male counterparts of the mermaids.

No, Neptune was never shown as a merman in Roman myths. In ancient times he was always shown as having a fully human appearance. It in modern times that people started showing him as a merman in art.

Agreed, really interesting! But where were Neptune, Nereus, Tritannus & co. when Valtor was attacking Andros and turning mermaids into monsters?
