This is probably old since the animation for Winx Club changed in season 5, but I thought I would discuss it anyway since I never see it being discussed that much at all. And I'm really curious as to how others feel about it.

The newer animation for Winx Club is very very similar to other animations for cartoons nowadays. I think this is what most companies are leaning towards more now (like Littlest Pet Shop, MLP, etc etc). I'm not sure if it's easier to animate, but it does look a lot better. One of my friends said she doesn't like it since she just enjoys traditional animation in general.

Here I have made comparisons of earlier season characters to the new animation style. Some are also a comparison from the very first season to the Nick specials that have the same animation style as season 5 and 6. And the difference in the look and feel is very noticeable.

Not only do they look older, but the goofs nowadays are rare. In the earlier seasons, I spotted so many goofs that I have a few funny screenshots somewhere on my tumblr blog of them. Where their eyes are going different directions or the proportions are just off. And you could tell in the third season with Aisha's enchantix outfit it kept changing from blue to green every single episode.

What are your thoughts on it? Do you like the new animation style, or do you miss the old, traditional style? Personally, I love it. They look so much better but I will always love the traditional as well of course. It's just a big step for the franchise.

I personally don't mind it, I like it actually, the whole creative idea of 2D and 3D is just fantastic, but if they ever make Winx Club stay as 3D, then there's gonna be some problems that will include a remake of Les Miserables being Les Winxerables.

I dont like Nick 3D CGI, too much bad graphics for Winx but on the movies the 3D is very good of course, is a movie. 2D is good for the episodes by now

If you want to see a good mixture between 2D and CGI, watch Pokémon the 1st Movie and you will see how they combined 2D with CGI animation; it's pretty impressive how well it was done.

CGI animation is usually good for a movie, and rarely good for a show; the studio would have to be an expert in CGI for me to trust them for a show (ex: Pixar I would trust to make a CGI show).

You have Monster High as an example. Different animations for the movies and webisodes. It just won't work but CGI works amazing in the Winx movies. Just not in the show. You have the background for example. Like you can't just use a 2D background with CGI characters floating around. Or ugly mutants who are out of the sea in the open air. :3

I think the studio that's handling Mattel's CGI for the Monster High Movies and the Barbie Life in the Dream house webisodes does a decent job.

The CGI for Winx Club is just sad. That trident from last season didn't even have a decent texture on it. It looked like someone had stepped on it- same with the sword. My husband can't watch the fifth season without cringing.

The CGI for the rest of Winx Club isn't that good either. The ships look like simple models. It's just sad.

I really prefer the first art. There might be mistakes (and the bikes, awfull...) but I can hardly tell people apart now. Everything moves, even when they're just standing. I don't mind so much for Musa, but Stella and Bloom are really different now and I don't like it. Stella almost looks the same as Daphne now.

And i love the new style! and when was the CGI in season 1? O.O am i blind?

they had random cgi moments in season 1 to make it easier to animate. it mostly happened with the specialists on their bikes and the best way to see it is if you rewatch the episode where riven does that contest and darcy sets a trap.

That season 1 CGI moments were sooo yucky, I remmebered when I noticed that. I was in my mind like "sheeeeesh" thats terrible looking.

When I saw the nick specials of season 1, I was like woahhh. :shock: (Amazed)

The new one is better for me. But Stella's face changed to much... I think that in Season 3 they changed some things, and it looked better then the other 2 seasons. In Season 4, wow, it was beautiful, the movements and that things. In Season 5, I think CGI and 2D is a good idea, but the CGI was really ugly.
