Concerns about Username Colors

First topic message reminder :

While I am all for having our forum have color, especially in our names, I wanted to get this question thrown out to everyone. To be completely honest, there's a plethora of many different colors on our forum. While it is fun to have our possible favorite color painted over your user name, there could be some issues. Some that I would consider are; what's significant about these colors on people? Are they entitled to something? Yes, some are entitlted to the responsibilities they are assigned to. But personally, when changing the color on your name can be doable by free will, it can feel overwhelming or atrocious.

Lemme break down what colors we have activated on our forum (you can see all of them at the bottom);
Rainbow (Administrator; closed group; very essential)
Orange (Moderators; closed group; essential)
Yellow (Super Moderators; closed group; essential)
Green (Stream Moderators; closed group; essential)
Blue (Specialists; Member group)
Light Blue (Season 5 Moderators; closed group)
Purple (Witches; Member group)
Pink (Fairies; Member group)
Red (Wizards; Member group)
Dark Purple (default for all members with no group defined)

Count 'em, 10 colors.

Now don't get me wrong guys; it is fine and dandy to have a diverse amount of color on our forum. However, when you get down to it, you may find yourself asking... is it a little too much? I wanna hear y'all's opinion on the matter. Should we decrease the amount of color names we have? Don't be afraid to think otherwise; if it's a problem, chances are, it can be a problem.

Personally, I would like to keep things simple, yet, enjoyable (and fair) to everybody. I'm also not a huge fan of the default color for members who are not destined to a group (Dark Purple), because it blends with almost every other Link or Topic title that has the same color. No offense to the Red color named people, but Red is an immensely powerful color. It could represent anything; most commonly as an Administrator. That's where I believe people can get confused, especially when they're new to the forum. However, I do like the fact that you can choose a color name to define yourself as a Fairy, Witch or Specialist (referring to the actual show we are dedicated to), and now a Wizard.

Lastly, I would just like to point out that this is simply my opinion and concern with the forum. You can agree or disagree with it; I am happy to hear your insight.

@Awesomesauce: Sirenix will only come when the season finishes and that's a long time away...(OMG EVERYONE IN MY CLASS, NO GRADE CRIED!!!!! THE MOVIES WAS LIKE SO ROMANTIC THOUGH I wasn't allowed to see the gross stuff)

Well I think that we'll the mods are orange. maybe the wizards can be Green?

We shouldn't have more then one shade of one colour Jennycakes Very Happy

It might confuse newer members. Heck, it would confuse me! As MusaWinxy said, Grey is a nice neutral colour.

i dont get the real problem here
there are 4 membergroups for the regular members, there is nothing wrong with the colors of those membergroups
and the rest are staff membergroups
and those colors are fine too?

the heck is the problem , i am not getting it Razz

the only thing i see is that it would definitely be better if staff people got a rank image like i mentioned before
so people regonize them more easily
and most forums actually got that as standard thing when they open up a forum....
i mean this is not the only thing missing on this forum but lets put that aside Razz

if a lot of you just don't personally like the colors jae used for the regular membergroups
i suggest you send him a complaint if you want
though I THINK its a bit ridiculous to complain about that
because then its like he cannot decide anything himself anymore Razz

Well, I never definitely said the colors were creating a problem; I was wanting to know what everyone thought of the many colors we had. It could have been a problem though; too much of a good thing can be bad sometimes.

Also, I did spring up the idea to Jae about having a fully colored rank for mods/admins. So we both had the same idea at one point. Razz

Well now that the staff have their own ranks.. Maybe it's a good time to finally let everyone get their own color and no one will be confused no matter what really.. Razz
