SPELLS: (Level: Winx)
- Indigo Tendril (Low)—Delays an enemy by ensnaring an enemy’s leg in a tendril of darkness for ten to twenty seconds. Depends on the fairy’s stamina and when she uses the attack. The higher the enemy’s dexterity the less the spell has any effect.
- Gentle Abyss (Low)—Sends a light blast of darkness at one’s enemy. It merely shoves a person away from her and allows her to buy time to think of other combos.
- Night Lance (Medium)—Sends a long, narrow path of darkness straight at an enemy. The higher the enemy’s dexterity the less the spell has any effect as it focuses in one direction.
- Spangled Robe (Medium)—This spell cloaks Nyx in a state of near-invisibility using shadow and light particles as a shield. At Nyx’s current level, she can only make herself invisible. Nyx can only be invisible for a minute. The spell got its name because it made the spell caster’s body look like the night sky to the spell caster while seeming to be a light and shadow distortion to others. The first time she completed the first stage of the spell, she screamed and nearly fainted.
- Spangled Veil (High at Nyx’s current level)—Nyx is able to envelope multiple enemies in darkness for two minutes (maximum of five opponents if lucky at Nyx’s current Winx level. Usually ends up being three at most.)
- Night Mother’s Call (High)—Spellcaster draws a circle with her dark energy in mid-air and sends it at her enemy. It attempts to null an enemy’s negative energy using its own. This attack can only be used once a day at Nyx’s current level.
STRENGTHS:
- Defensive Magic—Nyx is comfortable with initiating spells, but holding them is a totally different story.
- Great Listener—While Nyx enjoys listening to people’s problems, she can be really bad at giving advice. However, this strength proves well for her academic career as it allows her to take pretty good notes.
- Playing instruments—Nyx has a musical ear which allows her to play mostly stringed instruments. Her favorite is the violin. She feels it lightens her feelings and calms her down. She tries to keep her playing the violin a secret from those of Melody at Alfea.
- Keeping Appearances—Nyx is good at keeping up appearances of being strong and determined, when in reality she is just as insecure as everyone else. It comes with her upbringing as the Crowned Princess of Noctus and being an older sister.
WEAKNESSES:
- Asking for Help—Nyx is bad at asking for help when she needs it the most. She wants to appear strong and indestructible to people, but in reality she is just as insecure as everybody else. She has yet to figure this out and it will be an ongoing thing for her to contend with.
- Mathematics—Nyx thinks it is a boring subject and manages to fall asleep in class. While it should help with subjects like Potions, Astronomy, Astrology and Alchemy, Nyx has trouble remembering formulas and applying them to such subjects.
- Stage Fright—Nyx gets uncomfortable when she is on stage performing. During a performance recital in which she would be playing for representatives from Melody, she got sick on stage. Needless to say, she was the palace’s laughing stock for a week and Melody’s ambassadors’ laughing stock for two weeks.
- Expressing Herself—Relative to asking for help, Nyx is bad at expressing herself especially when it helps her ask for help. Again, she likes appearing strong and sure of herself. As a princess she was taught to bottle most things in and endure what troubles her. It’s another thing she has to constantly contend with on a regular basis. Especially, when it is her mission to find suitable allies for her inevitable quest to find her younger sister and rescue her planet.
APPEARANCE:Civilian AppearanceNyx has long, dark hair that is usually tied in a high ponytail by silvery bound. Some hair has escaped and falls down her back in deep, indigo strands. She has very pale skin and often uses parasols to shield herself from sunlight. Unlike most of the other fairies, Nyx prefers deep colored clothing and cosmetics to bright, cheery colors. She feels deep colors help keep the image of sophistication and maturity. However, she will negotiate via silver, light blues, light indigos and light purples. Nyx has deep colored eyes with silver flecks if one looks closely at them.
She is mostly seen in a deep indigo, short-skirted dress inspired by Greco-Roman dress. The dress has one sleeve and is lined with silver and silver embroidered stars. She wears a silver, soft material girdle of similar design to the embroidery of her dress. Extra cloth from the dress is attached at the shoulder and falls down like a cape. She wears a light indigo under-skort and laced, knee-high boots.
Winx Appearance (First transformation)Nyx’s hair grows to her knees and kept out of her face by a headband made from few small braids. The braids are adorned with shades of silver waves with star shapes carved in. Her nails are painted a dark indigo with lighter indigo sparkles. She wears silver bangles on her wrists with a celestial theme engraved into them. She wears a deep indigo gradient to black sparkling dress with the mid-drift in a lighter indigo with silver sparkles. Attached to it is a silver sash that wraps around and attaches at her hip. She wears an indigo choker, star shaped earrings and silver-laced, indigo high-heeled boots. Her hair is streaked with silver and indigo and violets. Her wings are shaped like a moth’s and the scales are colored with a silvery-blue with small stars.
PERSONALITY:Nyx is a very hardworking individual and mostly gets good grades as a result. However, she will get failing marks because of her problem with asking for help because she feels she should know a subject. One of the reasons she has so little friends is that she is constantly hard at work studying and trying to get stronger. It gives her caretaker a legitimate fear that Nyx will burn herself out.
Nyx is used to positions that put her in charge. So much that she may come off as bossy or snotty if she is criticizing other people’s ability to lead. It comes from being born a princess and the eldest sister.
Nyx likes to keep the appearance of being an enigmatic, sophisticated girl. Sometimes she is proud she comes from such a place people only vaguely know. It gives her a feeling of hope that she can one day change the thoughts of other people have on her planet and kingdom. Along with her trying to keep an enigmatic air, Nyx likes to appear calm and collected. However, her façade fades when she is around things she considers “adorable”. Keeping the appearance of being an enigma makes it difficult for her to make new friends because people feel she is extremely reserved or stuck up. Her mission to get allies can be jeopardized if she keeps it up.
When Nyx decides on something she will stick with it to the end. It can get to the extreme where other people notice what she decided on is clearly not working. It especially does not help that she dislikes asking for help, especially when everything around her is falling apart. She has this false belief that things will work themselves out and that she is indestructible. Yet, no matter what, she very determined individual.
Nyx is at times very reckless. When she hears about something that might help her find her younger sister or a way to get back to Noctus, Nyx is the first one there no matter if a place holds many traps. Even if her sister might be controlled and put up against her, Nyx is determined to make things right again for her kingdom. She is tired of running and constantly transferring schools. She is tired of waiting patiently for her magic to become stronger. She wants to rise through the ranks as a fairy at Alfea even if might be a little too soon for her or that it might burn her out. It makes her easier to be manipulated.
Nyx in some way is very self-centered. She obsesses over her insecurities and especially about her need to free her people, that she sometimes does not notice the pain other people are feeling. There is a minor “What about me?” mentality when she is reminded of her own pain and past regrets. It may even coincide with her grudging or spiteful side if she has to work with a previous antagonist against her will, because she won’t notice or care about the guilt the other is feeling.
Nyx has a compassionate and caring side once one is able to get to know her. When she was little she spoiled her younger sister often and she remembered she made time to go on adventures with her. While Nyx is distracted with her duty to get stronger and her mission to collect a group of possible allies, she is still there for people to lean on her for support. She prides herself as being an older sister to others. Another example that there is a compassionate and caring side to her is her vast collection of adorable, celestial themed plush toys.
HISTORY:Nyx is the crowned princess of Noctus born to King Nox and Queen Tsillah. She has a younger sister who is a witch (note: someone else can be her younger sister) and was extremely close with her since they were little. They lived a relatively carefree life, focused on surviving in the wilds of Noctus and hanging with friends. Nyx is the crowned princess of Noctus born to King Nox and Queen Tsillah. They would go on adventures through the wilds of Noctus as well as sneak out of the palace to enjoy the Capitol. Nyx had some of her and her sister’s friends join them in private tutoring in various subjects. As a child, Nyx enjoyed music and learning about Melody. She was invited to Melody for a recital and got sick with fright on stage. However, that story is saved for another day. Besides, her true childhood with her family was cut short.
Their time ran short when the palace was attacked. Unfortunately, the girls were too young to control their powers and could not fight alongside their parents against a great evil. No one from the other lands of the magical dimension wanted to help as they distrust those of Noctus. So, in an effort to keep the evil from spreading into the other parts of the magical dimension, Nyx’s parents locked Noctus’ doors. While this saved the other kingdoms, it essentially made them sacrifice their own. With little magic left, King Nox and Queen Tsillah sent their girls to the other lands of the magical dimension in hopes of a better life.
For Nyx, she attended many elementary schools and middle schools until she settled upon Alfea. Her caretaker, a royal servant of the Noctus Royal family was responsible for transferring and moving Nyx around for her own protection. The caretaker believed the evil will escape from the currently sealed Noctus. Another caretaker was sent to care for Nyx’s younger sister to protect and train her until the girl was ready to attend Cloudtower. Nyx and her caretaker, Leila, prayed Nyx’s sister and her caretaker would be safe. Their mission was to acquire the appropriate allies to save Noctus. It would be hard, because many people misunderstood those of Noctus.
Nyx attended schools on various worlds and was met with a sort of distrust. This distrust and misunderstandings were usual for Noctus and its denizens. Many people of the other lands of the magical dimension believed Noctus was a place of great evil. To combat this feeling of distrust, the people of Noctus including Nyx often do their best to bottle their frustrations and extend a hand toward anyone in need. It is not the darkness the people should fear, it is the individual and true side of that individual as Noctus’ motto means. However, Nyx among other of Noctus’ citizens mess the meaning up by protecting their hearts from other people instead of expressing themselves. Nyx dealt with such problems by practicing her violin as it helped express what she were feelings without the need for words.
While Nyx did not make many friends in her schools, she kept hopeful she would as she got older and qualified for Alfea. It was hard to remain hopeful as Nyx was scared their chance of saving Noctus had diminished. However, with Leila’s guidance, Nyx was able to keep herself from surrendering to her own negative feelings. Nyx would later admit that if it was not for Leila’s encouragement, she would have never gotten into Alfea.
Nyx never forgot her mission. She is determined to gather a group of powerful allies; warrior, witch and fairy alike to fight off Noctus’ antagonist once and for all. She is determined to call this group, Sidhex. She was given a half of the Night Essence to help find her allies.
When she does have the time between classes and her mission, Nyx does not fail to add to her collection of adorable, celestial-themed plush toys.
