Neutral Milk Hotel - In the Aeroplean Over the Sea
This is one of the most celebrated releases of any album in all of underground music. In fact, it's probably one of the largest accomplishments ever in the history of ANY American Folk subgenre. Take a listen.
Sun Kil Moon - Benji
This album changed my life. I wish I could say a bit more about it, but it's so hard to describe with words.
Godspeed You! Black Emperor - Life Your Skinny Fists like Antennas to Heaven
This is my all time favorite album, primarily because it changes direction in almost every song. There isn't a flow, there isn't a story, and there is absolutely no meaning whatsoever. This whole album relies on the individual finding it and learning to accept it for what it is. I'll admit, it certianly is something that requires some time to break in; but since 2000, this has slowly more and more meant something incredible to my personal growth. It may be me, but every time I listen to it I hear something different and that changes the meaning entirely. I do wish that they would have made this their final release, since everything after lost it's flair and eventually just devolved into attempts at being "experimental".
