Musa's Mother-Daughter Day - Spoiler:
The Alfea library was in flames. Flames licked the walls with greedy orange tongues, devouring the thousands and thousands of pages of carefully chronicled knowledge that the many books held within them. A thick, choking smoke hovered in the air, and every time Musa inhaled, it brought more of it into her chest. Her lungs burned for want of fresh, clean air. A serpent-like line of flame leaped out at her, but she fluttered backwards just in time.
Musa didn’t know why she had come back into the burning room. The other fairies had gotten out safely and warned her not to return. Techna had managed to save Galatea before Musa even had the chance to consider it. With a heavy, painful sort of acknowledgement, Musa understood that Techna was far braver than she could ever be and so were all of the other fairies, in fact. “Have you earned your Enchantix yet?” was a question that always brought a bright flush to Musa’s face.
But Musa had been drawn back into the room. Call it fate, call it destiny, but Musa could’ve sworn that she heard a small voice - as delicate as the twinkle of wind chimes - call out to her. If there was anything she had learned from being part of the Winx, it was to trust yourself. And right now, Musa felt as though she needed to return to the library.
She reached up a hand and cupped it to her mouth so that her cry would reach maximum volume. “Hello?” she shrieked out. The only response was the sinister crackling of the flames and the groaning of an architectural structure under immense strain.
Sweat beaded on Musa’s brow. Her wings seemed to sizzle against the searing heat in the room. Every breath was laborious, and her lungs cried out in protest at having to inhale such noxious fumes. She called out again, considerably less loud, “Is anyone in here?” The power it was taking to support herself in such a room was beginning to show itself - her muscles burned behind her skin, which was beginning to blacken from the soot that was falling from all areas of the room. “I can help you!”
A deep, wooden creaking sound seemed to warn Musa against going any further with this impulsive plan. This room wasn’t going to be able to hold up much longer. Desperately, the girl tried one last time, “Show yourself!”
At the far back of the room, a small voice called out weakly, “Musa?”
A long dormant feeling inside Musa stirred. There was something vaguely familiar about the voice - it was gentle, musical, comforting, motherly. But she did not dare to indulge herself with such a foolish hope. Without waiting to survey a safe path, Musa flew forward into the musty, inky black smoke. Her eyes began to water and tears streamed down her face, for the smoke seemed to clamp its cruel jaws against her face.
“I’m coming!” she cried out. “I’m comi -”
Musa stopped dead in her tracks, facing the far wall.
A figure was slumped against the wall. She was still conscious, but barely so. Her head fell down onto her shoulder every once in a while, as though she was nodding off, but she picked it back up again each time. Her voice was barely audible at this point, but she whispered, “Help me, Musa.”
The smoke cleared around the woman for a moment and Musa felt her stomach drop to her knees. A new, painful combination of grief and happiness seemed to swat Musa across the face. A pair of warm but bloodshot grey eyes blinked up at Musa from a pale face. A brown bob reached the woman’s shoulders, but the ends were singed from the fire. Her orange kimono had streaks of soot all over it. But through all of these imperfections, the woman was still beautiful to Musa.
A ghostly image of Matlin, Musa’s mother who had been dead for over 10 years, stared up at her daughter.
Musa wasted no time. She reached down and pulled her mother up off of her feet. Despite her transparent appearance, Matlin still had the weight of a human. Gently slinging her over her shoulder in a fireman’s hold, Musa began to make her way through the flames.
The fire, however, wouldn’t make her venture easy.
With a splintering crash, one of the wooden beams from the ceiling crashed to the ground like a flaming meteor. Matlin cried out weakly, but Musa did not even flinch. She flittered to the corner of the room and pressed herself against a wall as tightly as she could. Skirting narrowly around the wall of flame, she spoke soothingly to her mother, hardly believing that she was holding the woman who she had longed to meet for so long: “I promise, Mom, we’ll get out of here. I promise.”
Even though Musa felt like lying down and giving up in the middle of the library, she refused. She wouldnot let her mother down. She would not let her die again.
The doorway was barely visible, but Musa pushed towards it as fast as possible. Her mother’s grip on her shoulders began to weaken, but Musa held her even tighter. “Hold on, Mom!”
Bursting through the doorway, Musa gently set her mother down on the ground and then collapsed next to her. “You’re safe, Mom,” she whispered. Voices echoed faintly down the hallway and Musa recognized them as belonging to her friends.
“Oh, no!” she heard Bloom scream.
Rolling over onto her side, Musa groaned and waved at her friends. “I’m...fine...kind of. Not really. I’m hurting a lot, actually. Why did I say I was fine?”
Musa expected a response from her friends, but silence greeted her ears. She rubbed her sooty hands against her eyes - which did not help improve her vision - and turned her head for a better look. Everyone was staring in awe at Matlin, who had managed to stand up.
Musa’s head pounded with pain and adrenalin, but she bolted upright on the ground. “Mom,” she cried out, clapping her hands to her face. “How are you here? How are you…”
But Musa did not get an answer. Immediately, Matlin began to glow with a blue, pulsing light. She turned to smile at Musa and reached out to touch her face. Musa felt warmth where the ghostly hands rested against her cheeks. “Mom…”
“You must have faith in yourself, Musa,” the ghostly voice whispered.
“I will. Do you have to go? ”
“No.”
“Then, you’re going to stay?” Joy flooded through Musa. Finally, she would have the mother-daughter relationship she dreamed of - shopping dates, movie nights, girl talks. It would be everything she constantly wished for.
“No.”
Musa felt like sobbing. In fact, she did.
“Musa, I will always be here for you.” Matlin pressed her almost completely invisible hand against Musa’s heart. “I promise. You just have to be brave enough to see me. I attempted to do something dangerous today - I wanted to come back to Earth, to be with you. But I almost killed myself in the process." Matlin waved a hand towards the flaming library. "What is gone is meant to be gone, Musa, my love. Everything happens for a reason, and - for now - I must go. Perhaps one day, we will meet again in person. But before I depart, I have a final gift.”
Matlin raised her hands towards the flaming library and launched a long stream of blue waves toward it. With what sounded like a quiet, airy song, the flames fizzled out. With a flash of turquoise, Matlin was gone.
Her chest trembling with the force of her sobs, Musa allowed her friends to envelope her in a hug. But almost immediately, they all leapt back.
Something was happening. Musa felt herself transforming, but not into her usual form. A new outfit rippled into view - pink and orange sparkles shimmered in her new skirt and top. Her brand new wings glittered, casting yellow strands of light across the room. “Enchantix!” she breathed as she slowly returned to the ground.
She flapped her wings once to test them and then turned to her dumbstruck friends. “I - I saved my mother,” she whispered, clapping her hand to her mouth. “That’s why I earned Enchantix.”
“But how?” Stella cried out in disbelief. “She’s dead!”
“I have no logical explanation for this,” Techna murmured, shrugging her shoulders. “This ghostly apparition - are you sure it was your mother?”
“Maybe it was just a hallucination,” Flora suggested. “What did you eat before -”
Bloom stepped forward, throwing her hands out to stop the volley of questions. “Enough,” she said in her strong, decision-making tone. “It doesn’t matter how Musa earned her Enchantix. It matters that she did and we all should congratulate her.”
The Winx enveloped Musa in a tight hug, but the celebration was quiet and reserved. Musa appreciated that greatly, as she was still shaken by the whole ordeal.
Laying in bed that night, Musa listened to the quiet breathing of her best friends. She wondered if any of them would really ever understand what she had felt that day. She had come so close, so close, to meeting her motherly properly for the first time. She had been inches away. And no matter how hard her friends tried to convince her that maybe it was the smoke that had distorted her vision and it hadn’t been her mother, she knew that it had been.
Maybe one day, I’ll get to meet her again, Musa thought, closing her eyes and turning over towards the wall. She fell asleep quickly and, in her dreams, she could’ve sworn she heard the delicate singing voice of her mother, promising her that everything would be alright.
Sunrise Moonrise - Spoiler:
(The canon thing is Stella saves her father from the dragon and gains her Enchantix after the disastrous events of the day. What’s changing is exactly how she gains the power and the beastie she fends off. The original sacrifice being that she’d used all her magic to fight off a dragon in order to save her father. In my opinion? That was severely lacking. Also the rubbish about Radius falling back under Cassandra’s spell after she left him to fall was utter trash. So the canon is being altered here.) Stella walked slowly toward the sip her eyes focused on the long locks of Bloom and Aisha. Her heart was heavy with guilt. Today had started off so well. It should have stayed that way she thought bitterly to herself as her slender hands balled into fists. Her head jerked upward as the echo of familiar male voice cried out."Daddy?" She whispered and shot into the air without a moments hesitation. The voices of her friends called out to her but she ignored them.Stella's shimmering wings beat frantically as she flew faster than she had ever done in her entire life, blonde pigtails streaming out behind her like a banner in the wind. The crimson armoured hydra advanced on the man lying terrified on the grass, looming over him as it prepared to strike. A fierce growl escaped the beasts throat and it raised a clawed limb, the man stared up at the raised limb, one of his arms coming up in an attempt to protect his face. The claws came down and king Radius rolled out of the wayStella stopped dead in front of the Hydra and glared daggers at the dark colored beast.“You will not have him!” She snarled and slammed her hands together, magic pooling between them and after a split second light began to shine through the gaps between her fingers. The shining fairy pulled her hands apart, the small orb of light cupped in them growing bigger and brighter until it exploded sending the Hydra crashing to the ground.“Daddy. Are you alright?” Stella questioned, turning to her father who beamed at her in turn.“Thanks to you my sunbeam” her father replied and bent down to pick up his crown which had fallen from his head as he’d rolled away from the Hydra’s strike. Upon standing back up his expression hardened and he pulled the gleaming sword and slipped into a battle stance.Stella turned in mid air to find the Hydra had not been beaten by the magical blast. Its scaly body was smoking slightly and it looked beyond furious as it bared three mouths full of sharp teeth at her. The blonde sucked air into her lungs and stared at the approaching hydra, her courage was failing her and all she wanted to do was run. Her body trembled and she clenched her fists as she turned her gaze to the floor, tears threatened to make themselves known.‘Stella. My darling angel. Never forget that you while you are predominantly fairy of the sun, remember that you are also fairy of the moon.’ A gentle voice echoed in Stella’s mind.“Mom?” Stella whispered. A tear did escaped her eye then and she closed her eyes for a moment before they flashed open. New light gleaming from within. “I call upon my birthright as fairy of the shining sun and the gleaming moon, lend me the power to win this fight” the golden fairy chanted, arms rising toward the sky.Radius stared at his precious baby girl as she began to glow with an ethereal blue light.“This time monster. You’re going down and staying down” Stella told the hydra which merely growled menacingly at her. “Guiding moon burst” she cried and sent a spherical shaped magic blast at the hydra which merely shook the attack off and charged toward King Radius.Radius stood his ground, expression fierce as the beast came ever closer. One mouth opened to reveal impossibly sharp teeth which glinted in the light of the moon. Two different pairs of golden eyes widened in horror as the hydra roared and spat a ball of gleaming liquid at Radius.“DADDY, NO!” Stella half screamed and threw herself in front of her father, charging her magic as she did so and throwing her hands out; sending a full powered beam of mixed celestial light to smash into the hydra. The blast throwing the beast backward and smashing it into the side of the palaceRadius could only stare in horror as the liquid splattered over her; turning her usually orange outfit black as night and staining her vivid blonde hair. A hoarse scream escaped her lips and she collapsed to the floor. The golden fairy writhed on the floor, emitting pained noises every so often.A whimper escaped her throat as Radius gently grasped her clean hand.“Daddy, it hurts” she mumbled softly as she blacked out from the pain.Radius gently scooped his daughter up and held her close not caring that acid smeared on him. A dear dripped from his eye, then another and another until the strong and wise king of Solaria was crying in public uncaring of who saw.“Oh my Stella, my beautiful angel of light. How could I have let you do this?” He sobbed softly and rested his head against the unconscious form of Stella. Radius was so far past caring he didn’t even notice five girls skid to a halt nearby. He didn’t see them gaze in horrified sadness at the unmoving form of Stella cradled in his arms.He placed his bright baby girl on the floor for a moment before moving to unhook his cloak in order to cover the wonderful young woman who had saved his life. He was stopped by a cocoon of soft gold and blue wrapping around his darling Stella and lifting her into the air. When the light uncoiled it revealed Stella hovering just above the ground. New wings fluttering strongly as she smiled at her father. Her beautiful skin however was marred with angry red patches.Radius reached out and Stella took his hands with her own.“Oh my darling angel of light. I’m so proud to call you my daughter, not only did you save my life. You also gained your enchantix powers.” He told her albit tearfully.Stella merely smiled sadly at her father for a moment before gently grasping the small container that hung from a choker around her neck. In order to pull it off and lightly tip out a tiny amount of the fairydust contained inside. She breathed in and after a moment, tossed the fairydust up into the air so that it sprinkled over her like snow falling from the sky. She could literally feel the dust hitting red raw patches of skin and the light stinging sensation as the skin healed. All at once she was ambushed by all 5 of her best friends in the entire magic dimension. They laughed with joy and admired her new wings along with giving their congratulatory remarks. The happy moment was disrupted all too soon, when shouts from the royal guards entered their ears.Quickly hugging her father she gently kissed his cheek and flew toward the ship. Wings beating frantically.
What if...? - Spoiler:
One chancy encounter, determining two separate time lines. Oh, which one would lead Bloom into meeting Stella, saving her from the ogre Knut. Once going left instead of right two new time lines created. Instead of going to the park that sunny day in gardenia, Bloom decided to help her mother out in the flower shop. It had it's own tranquility, arranging bouquets for the clients and being surrounded by the hundreds of different soothing scents emerging from the flowers coagulating into a whole. The day went by uneventful. That evening Bloom found herself confined to her room. Crushing boredom of summer got the best of her. Why didn't she fit in? How was she any different from the other girls in her class and why was she the victim of Mitzy's relentless scorn? Boredom led to contemplation and contemplation led to questions unanswered. Refuge could only be found in one thing and one thing alone. Her book about fairies.Legend had it, or folklore depending on whom you'd ask, fairies once roamed the earth. Sightings of dubitable legitimacy were no real help either. This one book was her place to escape, something inside her clung to the legends and folklore. There had to be a reason why others regarded her as they did, or was it all just hatred?Even her book led only to contemplation and with a sigh Bloom put it away again. She turned out the light and within minutes she drifted off to sleep but not a restful one. Keeko in his rabbit cage winced sensing blooms doubt and discomfort.~Bloom, you must fulfill your destiny, you have missed the point of turning~ A voice spoke to Bloom in her dreams. A tranquil and soothing female voice it was. The image formed in Bloom's dream was that of a white and yellow glowing creature with elaborate clothing and unmatched serenity radiating from her.~Bloom, the world of Magix needs you!~ The voice spoke again, but this time it sounded distorted and serenity was replaced by distress and fear. With a loud gasp Bloom woke up, finding herself bathing in sweat sitting upright in bed and breathing rapidly. Her chest burned, her arms and legs tingled and her head felt cloudy. Keeko woke up as well, be it somewhat less dramatic but still enough to startle the blue rabbit. Immediately Bloom consoled her pet but failed to soothe her own mind which was racing. She flicked her lights back on and sighed deeply. “This was by far the worst nightmare I've had in a very long time,” She said while she headed towards the rabbit cage to let Keeko out. The rabbit tilted his head slightly in response to what Bloom said. “I know you can't help me Keeko, but everything will work out for the best,” Bloom said and smiled.Keeko did not react anything like Bloom had expected him to react and bolted out of her lap straight towards her book shelve. “Keeko, what are you doing?” Bloom asked wondrously while she got up and followed him to the bookcase. Keeko in the meanwhile jumped and pointed towards the book case. Somewhat stunned by this unprecedented intelligence the rabbit seemed to be showing Bloom looked at her book shelve. She didn't see anything out of the ordinary. Just her normal books for school and the lores of fairies, stories of long past.Bloom couldn't figure out what the exited bunny was trying to tell her. She figured she might as well try to lift Keeko up to try to make some sense of him pointing towards her books. Immediately Keeko headed for a book Bloom hadn't touched in six years. And pointed even more excitedly now than he did while he was still on the floor.Bloom picked up the book with one hand and carefully guided Keeko into her other hand before placing both on her bed. When she looked at the cover of her book she was stunned by what only could be described as utter shock. On the cover was the exact creature displayed that had spoken to her in her dreams. For a moment she looked at Keeko and couldn't quite decide which of the two very weird things creeped her out more, the fact that a mythical creature spoke to her in her dream, or the fact that Keeko knew where and what to look for. When she calmed down some more and sat down staring at the book another conflict rose. Every rational fiber in her mind was screaming murder against the intuition she was born with. “Where do I come from?” She wondered. She knew she was adopted, but that was pretty much the end of what she knew, nothing about her biological parents.Flipping through the book glancing over stories read dozens of times. “What are you trying to tell me Keeko?” She asked desperately. When all she got was some tilting of Keeko's head she laid the palm of her hand on her forehead and sighed. “What did I expect...”Mid sentence Keeko interrupted Bloom by once again pointing towards to book and urging Bloom to read onward. So she did 'You're taking instructions from a rabbit,' a small voice in her head stated causing Bloom to look a Keeko once again who immediately resumed his gestures urging Bloom to read on. 'Yes, I am taking instructions from a rabbit,' She replied to the voice in her head in a confident manner which rewarded her with a headache on top of everything else.It was hard to focus on the book but she read. Despite the few hours of restless sleep Bloom didn't feel tired. The stories once again gabbed her and took her to lands unheard of and other dimensions completely alien from what she knew. Strangely she imagined herself more comfortable in those alien environments rather than on earth where she hardly belonged, or at least felt as if she didn't belong.Bloom felt something she didn't feel in a long time, at least not since she hit early puberty. “Could it be? Or have been?” She mused softly towards Keeko. The rabbit had resumed his sleeping once Bloom had started reading and the only reply she got was a very soft and short lasting snore. She smiled weakly and continued reading. “So many people telling the same stories, they can't be all wrong, can they?” She wondered to herself. Immediately she thought of the many discarded stories of people arguing to be abducted by aliens. “No, it can't be. Magic isn't real and neither are fairies!”Her angry exclamation had awakened Keeko once more and he looked somewhat agitated. “Sorry Keeko, I'll put you in your cage, I want to catch some sleep as well,” She said and guided Keeko into his cage. The rabbit quickly curled up on his bed of soft hay and drifted off to sleep. Bloom on the other hand took a while longer to fall asleep. The next few month went by in a blur. Summer ended and the repetitive drone of daily routine took over once again. 'Still the same scorn, still the same feeling, I do not belong here,' Had become her mantra. Bloom became progressively withdrawn and uncertain.A few days before Christmas when the break had already started Bloom was a hermit to her room. Her parents concerned for the well being of their daughter just entered and her father said: “Bloom, we can see something is troubling you. Please talk with us so we can help you. It hurts your mother and I gravely to see you like this,”Bloom looked up towards her parents with hollow eyes. As if only the shell remained and Bloom as a person had vanished, or at the very least subdued. “I don't think you can help me,” She replied with her voice flat and unmoving.“Bloom please, you have to talk to someone, if you can't talk to us then who's left to talk to?” her mother said while she lost the battle with her tears so one rolled over her cheek empowering her question.“Do you want to know what's going on? Where do I come from and where do I belong?” She screamed. Bloom buried her head in her pillow and soft sobs escaped from her along with her entire body shocking in conjunction with the sobs.“I don't think now is (...)” Bloom's father started but was immediately interrupted by Bloom saying relatively calmly: “If anything now is the best time!” As if she already knew what was coming. Both parents looked at one another for a short period of time before they sighed a yielding sigh. Her father started: “Sixteen years ago at your birthday my fire brigade was called to a massive fire in downtown gardenia. Several multi story buildings ablaze, a fire unprecedented in it's magnitude for gardenia. We had gotten reports of people being trapped inside the building so before we could start fighting the fire we had to go in in order to rescue as many as we could. combing the entire building for survivors the report appeared to be false since we could find nobody inside. Then when the rest of the crew left I suddenly thought of one place I neglected to look and there I found you.”There Bloom's father cut off the story but the intonation in his voice betrayed there was more. With Bloom hanging on his every word this didn't go unnoticed to her and she asked: “And?”Her father bit his lip and looked anxious all of a sudden. Bloom looked questioning towards her father and blinked with her eyes a couple of times. Her father looked towards her mother who gestured him to continue the story. “Very well, You were completely unharmed and surrounded by this semi translucent orange hue around you. The most remarkable of it all was that you and the crib you were in seemed impervious to the blaze surrounding you. Everything burned and succumbed to this fire except for you.”“Wait, What?” Bloom exclaimed and her eyes grew big as dishes. “You found me in a blaze with... something around me... like a forcefield?” She asked with several pauses since it simply seemed too incredible to believe.Bloom's father shrugged. “Well, by lack of any better explanations, Yes,” he said. It seemed as if he himself wasn't quite believing his own story.“If you're going to lie to me, then at least have the decency to think of something better than me being in a fire protected by a magical forcefield. Or do I have to remind you of the hundreds of times you've told me magic isn't real!” Bloom spewed. Her dad visibly taken aback by the violent reaction coming from Bloom.“I'm not lying Bloom!” Her father replied calmly but emphatically. “I did find you in that fire, something told me to take care of you and since that day no such thing ever happened again. So me and your mother thought it best not to mention it.”Bloom sat on her bed with a blank expression but her eyes didn't seem as hollow anymore, something had reignited the spark within her and once again she could tap into some of her resolve. “This raises even more questions,” she said calmly and slowly while looking towards her parents hoping they could tell her more.Blooms father shook his head. “Unfortunately those question I cannot answer, I've got those same questions dear Bloom, but please, know we love you very much regardless!”She finally found her smile again, the first in weeks and stood up to hug both her parents. “I know you love me, and I love you very much as well!” She said. The hug lasted for an unknown amount of time and in complete silence. Feelings took over the conversation that started with words and finally Blooms former mantra shattered. “I do belong here, even though I don't!”To Bloom it didn't matter her new mantra was an oxymoron, it simply felt right to her. She belonged here where she was with her parents, yet she didn't belong at this place as a whole. Her interest in fairies was reignited and once again she found herself buried deep in books about fairies. She purposely avoided the main stream fairy tales and instead looked for old references and stories of actual sightings of magic being practiced. How little she could find was disappointing but somehow her intuition told her not to stop looking. One night after countless hours of reading through the umpteenth dead end she fell asleep while still wearing her clothes and her lights still on. Turmoiled dreams had begin to torment her progressively often and this night would be no exception. She dreamed about 4 girls at some kind of school, and they learned about magic. But they were in grave danger she could sense. This being the dozenth time she dreamed about exactly the same made her discard coincidence or just a nightmare repeating itself, not now she knew magic was (could be) real. One girl wore an orange outfit and had hair gold as the sun, long and flowing. She wielded a staff and seemed to shoot bright rays of light. Another girl wore a pink outfit and had a pretty tanned skin color, pretty working both ways in this instance and long brown flowing hair. She seemed to be controlling plantlife around her. The third girl wore a purple jumpsuit and her magic made her think of computers for some reason, though that combination didn't quite work inside Bloom's head and finally the last girl wore a red attire and seemed to be specialized with sound waves and music. Always these four and none other. What did it mean and who were they? She didn't wake up from her nightmare, she didn't wake up the second time it had come, she wanted to know, she wanted to ask those girls the burning questions she had yet in her dreams she was unable to reach out to them. Those dreams did cause a headache every time she had them. Not a normal headache when you get stressed or are sick, this one was different. More localized and sharp. Now spring announced itself and frosted lands yielded to make place for the plants to flourish once again. It was a gray morning in march and atypically cold. It felt like spring's early work could be undone by a massive blizzard. It was gusty as well which didn't help combined with the cold.Bloom walked to school on her own. Thinking back on her most recent dream and those girls she kept seeing. Yes they had wings which was odd, yet somehow it felt familiar. Suddenly her surroundings seemed to darken some more, and the wind picked up slicing straight through Bloom nearly instantly chilling her to the bone. A shiver of both chill and fear ran over her spine and resulted as a shudder through her entire body.“This isn't right,” She said to herself. She was the only one in the street walking and shy for the sole car that passed every couple of minutes the street was deserted. Except for the rushing wind nothing made a sound which caused an eerie atmosphere. “It might start to rain or snow any minute now,” she said again to herself as she took a brief look at the sky. Roiling black and gray clouds showing a restless sky. What was going on?That final question was answered rather quickly when a ray of pure light split the clouds open for just a brief moment until it hit the earth and vanished again. Intrigued as well as scared she slowly approached where the light had come from and landed on the ground in someone's lawn. A circular spot of brown grass contrasted itself strongly from the green around. “Light?” She wondered towards herself and looked straight up into the cloudy sky.Again the clouds parted but all she could see this time was the air itself being distorted until it crashed down on Bloom. The sound nearly split her head in two and left her ears ringing with a buzz. The brief moment Bloom had to look up she could actually identify the girl in pink she had previously seen in her dreams. “What?”“This can't be real, I must still be dreaming?” She said out loud as much a statement as a question. The thick clouds had obscured vision of what was going on up there again. Her ears still softly buzzing from the blast of... something... she took. A car passed while Bloom scrambled upwards again and they looked somewhat concerned. She quickly waved to them indicating she was okay.Seconds later she already forgot the car and her mind was set on finding out who those girls in the sky were. She now was certain she was hit by a sonic blast and she saw the ray of light. That couldn't be coincidence, could it? She had not seen anything from the other girl in her dreams but that had to wait since the other three she identified were more imminent. When nothing seemed to happen anymore except for the wind to become over more erratic than it had been and the temperature dropping another five degrees Bloom got somewhat angry while she shivered. Now convinced there was something more than just regular weather going on she shouted: “What is going on here?” at the top of her lungs. The lack of answer angered Bloom and again she screamed “What is going on here?” this time accompanied with a rather rude oath. Before she had the time to get angry at another lack of response Bloom found herself frantically dodging Icicles a meter tall and a tip sharper than a needle. Finally she got pinned between the icicles and one was heading straight for her face, a certain kill shot.Bloom had a quick moment of resignation and accepted her fate. She closed her eyes and breathed deeply. Surges of fear and panic rushed through her But she couldn't do anything anymore. The same split second when she resigned herself she also felt a surge of power greater than ever before. Her eyes snapped wide open and it was as if liquid fire coursed through her veins. Everything around her seemed to slow down. With a ferocious scream she released herself from the icicles that had pinned her away from the path of the fatal blow. When Bloom regained her calm she looked around and found herself hovering several feet in the air. Panicked she flailed with her arms and legs frantically trying to find solid ground which seemed to be futile. Again a couple of seconds were needed to regain her calm. “WHAT IS GOING ON HERE!” she shouted even louder than before. At the same time an orange blast seemed to emanate from Bloom and expanded. The clouds were repelled by the burst and now Bloom could finally see what was going on. Four flying girl whom she recognized, three other girl that seemed to levitate rather than fly. Both groups looked at Bloom with the same expression. Bloom was able to read the question on everyone's mind: “What just happened?”“Oh lord, another one of those Pixies, have at it Darcy,” the middle one of the group sneered. She looked like the leader, her presence unmistakable. Darcy in the meanwhile fixed her eyes on Bloom and seemed to focus for a brief second followed by what seemed a needlessly convoluted hand motion. Bloom suddenly saw her nightmare again, the distorted image of the mythical creature that had spoken to her in her dreams, her voice now sounding deep, full with anguish and sorrow, radiating failure into Bloom who teared up under the powerful enchantment spell. When Bloom looked up she noticed Darcy flung away by a powerful ray of light emitting from the golden haired fairy. “Let's go, We'll deal with these annoying pixies some other time,” she who appeared to be the leader said and as soon as she was finished talking they disappeared. The four girls she recognized approached her. “That was some major Winx there! Who are you?” The golden haired fairy asked.“I'm Bloom,” she replied and then examined all four of them briefly. 'Exactly like my dreams,' “Who are you if I might ask?” She asked timidly, not wanting to get caught by more magical spells aimed in her direction, she had quite enough of that for the moment, or forever as much as she was concerned.“This is Flora,” the golden haired fairy pointed towards the girl with tanned skin and pink attire, who in return smiled and waved kindly towards Bloom, instantly consoling her and putting her at ease. “This is Musa,” She now pointed towards the girl in red who looked somewhat apologetic. “This is Techna,” The golden haired fairy pointed towards the girl in the purple jumpsuit who simply waved with her facial expression just giving a slight hint of a smile. “And I am Stella, princess of Solaria!” She finally finished. “Nice to meet you Bloom,”“Sorry about the sonic blast that hit you, I only sensed you after due to the resonance in magic, I knew from that moment you were a magical creature!” Musa said and looked at Techna for some reason unapparent to Bloom.“We need to get you to Alfea as soon as possible Bloom, You're not safe here!” Techna said and urged the others that fraternizing could be done later. “Faragona had sent us here to examine a magical disturbance, now we know what it is,”“It?” Bloom asked somewhat perplexed. “Now can someone please tell me what is going on here? Because I fear I'm starting to lose it!”“No worries, everything will become clear to you once we get you to Alfea, you'll have to trust us deary,” Flora said kindly still with the kind smile on her face.“But what about my parents? I cannot just go to a place I don't know with people... ehhm, fairies … What is going on?” Bloom said, confusion now reaching its maximum.“Calm down sweety, we can come with you and explain a lot to your parents, among other things where you come from!” Flora said.“Shall we talk while we walk home then? I mean, this is a lot to chew and I'd like to have some solid ground beneath my feet again,” Bloom said and chuckled somewhat awkwardly. The others seemed to appreciate her resolve because they all laughed and helped her to the ground. Once landed Bloom immediately reverted back to her usual form and panted slightly. This endeavor had put quite a strain on her. “What are we going to tell my parents?” Bloom asked.“Everything we have managed to find out,” Stella said and smiled optimistically. “I'm sure they'll understand.”Bloom hummed softly indicating she couldn't share Stella's optimism. Her parents were regular earth folks who didn't understand magic at all. Bloom herself didn't understand it even and she appeared to be brimming with it.On the way home the four fairies explained to Bloom a little about her heritage, that she is in some way connected to Domino, and might even have something to do with the near mythical power called “The Dragonfire.” Yet there was a great measure of uncertainty in those statements, only vague prophecies and some drivels of information Faragonda had entrusted the girls with. Most likely the bare minimum to convince someone.Arrived at home the entire thing was explained to the parents again. To convince them they needed to transform once again. Blooms parents were awestruck with the manifestation and Bloom smiled. 'I did not belong here, I knew it,' But her parents didn't need to know how she felt about earth, she had always felt like she belonged with them and probably she did.“Bloom, I know it might be hard, but I think you should go with these girls,” her father said. “Ever since I found you in that inferno the way I did, I knew you were special, and now this.” Blooms mother nodded in concurrence.“Then it's settled, I'll go with them to Alfea, and learn all about this magic. But I will come visit you guys the first chance I get,” Bloom exclaimed enthusiastically and hugged her parents fiercely. “Thank you for everything mom and dad,” she whispered softly. Eventually the hug broke and the other four girls, now reverted back to their normal human form stood waiting while all carrying a determined smile. And so Bloom's Journey to Alfea started. Destiny always finds a way to get to you, whether you turn left or right, decide to look up or down. Each time line leading to your destiny. So did Bloom's.
