| Subject: All of the Joy [4 of 6] Tue Aug 26, 2014 5:47 am | |
| (North & Ruby Rose)
Christmas was the most important holiday -if not day in general- ever, in his mind. He may be bias on the thought, but it was true for him, since he was able to experience the joy the children of the world experienced on that special day.
He climbed down the chimney with well-practiced ease and found a little girl curled up on the couch with a flashlight resting in her lap. The guardian of joy smiled at the common image; children assumed they would be able to see the white bearded man, only to be caught by surprise from the king of dreams that led them into dreamland and allowed the jolly ol' man to do his job with no problems (except the one time that trickster thought it'd be fun to cause a massive blizzard just to slow him down; jokes on the trickster because the guardian of joy had the help of his red-nosed reindeer to complete the deliveries). This little girl was no different.
He smiled at her before going back to his work and placed the gifts from him under their tree, filled with their most desired toys the girl on the couch and her sister wanted. For the little girl with the red highlights, she desired toys straight from her fairytales. For her sister, it was a small, working motorbike and flame-designed helmet. He was done putting the gifts down when he saw a bright light come on behind him. He turned, and found the little girl with the flashlight on.
Silver eyes widened when they were met with crystal blue eyes. The little girl smiled, but she didn't call out his name and alert her household to the guest. Instead, she grabbed the plate of cookies that had been on the table beside her and offered it to him, looking shy. The jolly old man smiled at her thoughtfulness and took a cookie, biting into it. It was a sugar cookie, and quite delicious. He gave her a smile and when he finished the first one, he took a second, making the little girl smile in happiness; her gift had been well received. After finishing a third, he bade her farewell with a pat on her head. She had given him a pout at first, upset that the man had to leave, but quickly brightened up and bade him farewell.
As he continued with his deliveries, he came to the conclusion that he liked the little girl's silver eyes. They were wide and bright, reminding the man of his own eyes. They looked just like his own, full of joy and wonder for the world around her. To see that in a child was the whole reason he was glad to be a guardian.

| That was so sweet, what I would do to have a personality as bubbly as Ruby's!! So that's it right? You were only writing for Team RWBY's characters.. if you have more I would love to read them, they seriously brighten my day! | |

| (Pitch Black & Blake Belladonna)
She would never admit to being afraid of the dark....or rather, what accompanied the dark.
She moved through the shadows of the dark, but she never felt safe within them. Ever since she was a little child, she always felt something moving amongst the darkness with her, always following her and making her feel cold and scared. Even her ability to see in the dark was useless to find the mysterious figure that trailed after her, and that terrified her even more.
The being would even follow her into her dreams, chasing them away and leaving her with nightmares that would wake her in the middle of the night with a silent scream stuck in her throat. She never told anyone about her nightmares, not her past partner or her current team. She would never tell them about the utter coldness she'd feel when in a shadow, or the feeling of despair she'd get occasionally.
There was also the face that she could never escape from. It had haunted her throughout childhood, and the memory of the face had continued to torment her for her entire life. A face that had skin as gray as stone, teeth as sharp as blades, and eyes as cold and evil as the villains in those fairytales. It was a face that, in her youth, would have her screaming in fear. She never knew who this face belonged to, but he always belonged to fear.
And sometimes, when she was alone at night on the campus, looking at the stars, she'd feel a caress as cold as ice on her shoulder and she'd give a shiver of fear.
She would never admit to being afraid of the dark….but she would admit to being afraid of the man she associated with the dark.

| (Tooth Fairy & Yang Xiao Long)
Her work never stopped; unlike two of her guardian companions, she and her team of helpers were constantly working, every night of everyday of every year. She enjoyed her job, there was no doubt in that; she would never give it up to anyone without a fight. However, she did grow jealous of her team for the fact that they got to go out and take the tooth from the children. In her prime, she had the ability to do so, but that had been back when children were scarce; now there were more children than she could handle, and her team was required.
However, tired of being at central alone, the guardian of memories instructed her eldest helper and went out to retrieve one tooth; it was a compromise she had made with her helpers that she would go out for only one child and one child only to keep her from going crazy. She chose a child at random, and found herself flitting through the window of a moderately-sized home, coming upon a child with golden blond hair that was stunning. She took a moment to look over the little girl, thinking of how beautiful her hair would be when she was older, and moved towards the pillow, ready to seize the tooth and give the little girl compensation in return. Just as she was going for the pillow, a pair of brilliant violet eyes snapped open. The fairy stilled as she stared into her eyes, and for a fleeting moment she grew terrified that a child had woken up and found her, until she realized that the little girl hadn't even been asleep; she had been awake the entire time, feigning sleep just to trick the guardian.
The two stared at each other for quite some time, neither making any move. The guardian waited for the child to call for her family; while the parents would not be able to see the fairy, the little sister would, and that could cause some commotion. The thought did not terrify the mystical being as much as it made her nervous; it was a rule for the guardians to not be spotted to the best of their abilities, simply so they could continue their work in private.
The little girl broke into a wide grin, one that was almost blinding (the fairy had to stop from awwing loudly at seeing the open space that would be the missing tooth). The little girl then held up her hand and revealed the tooth in her palm, offering it up to the fairy with her bright smile still in place. The guardian felt her heart swell in delight at seeing the smile, and offering one of her own, she took the tooth and laid a quarter in the girl's palm, watching the little girl's eyes twinkle in delight.
The child launched out of the bed and wrapped her slender arms around the guardian, catching the woman off guard. However, the fairy wrapped her arms around the child and felt her eyes tear-up just a little bit. The little girl held onto the fairy for a moment more before pulling back and crawling back into bed, tucking the quarter under her pillow.
The guardian smiled down at the little girl, watching her yawn and get ready to finally go to sleep. The blond haired child glanced up at the fairy and grinned at her before closing her eyes and drifting off to sleep; the guardian of dreams would soon be on his way. With the tooth curled protectively in her palm, the queen of the little fairies left the room of the girl, heading back for her palace. She was in delight at having met the child who was very much a surprise, but it made the fairy queen excited and alive for the first time in two millennium, and that was all that mattered.

| He didn't know why for sure this particular little girl had caught her attention. Perhaps it was because she loved snow and ice as much as she did. Perhaps it was because of her lovely singing voice. Or perhaps, it was because she looked as lonely as him.
In the short time he had begun watching her, he had never seen her leave her home's premises. She was always confined to the estate, inside and out, but she was never allowed past the gates unless accompanied by a guard. No friends her age were ever brought over to play, and so little Weiss was forced to use her toys as company.
No one could see Jack, so it always gave him the opportunity to sneak into the Schnee estate, and watch little Weiss play with her toys, setting up fake concerts for them to witness. If he were to be honest, it was quite adorable. Whenever she was allowed outside to play, he'd give her some snow, to which she'd play with in delight. She'd make snow angels and snowmen, and would use makeshift hills as slides. Jack always felt a small swell of pride whenever he was able to make her laugh. Even though she'd never see him, the fact that he was still able to give her some bit of company in her lonely childhood made him feel like he was walking on air.
One night, Jack decided to watch over her while she slept. As creepy as that sounded, and as much as that made him out to be a stalker, Jack was doing it to keep watch over her.
Earlier that day, strange black creatures - that had made Jack think of Pitch's nightmares - had attacked the estate, and one had almost killed Weiss. Jack had killed the creature by freezing it to the core and then using his staff to smack it away. Weiss had been alone when it attacked, and she had closed her eyes, so Jack's attack went unnoticed. When guards came to her, they were surprised to find her unharmed. She had told them that it was her guardian angel that protected her, and that had almost made Jack cry. Even though she couldn't see him, she still thought something was with her, and that was as close to a human companion as he would get.
So, Jack decided to stay for the night and keep vigil, just in case those strange creatures (Grimms, from what the adults called them) decided to attack the little girl again. To occupy his time, he had begun playing around with his staff, balancing it on his palm. He moved his hand the wrong way, and the staff tumbled out of his palm. He gripped the end of it, but the hook bonked Weiss on her head. Jack stilled, waiting for her reaction, but the little girl continued to sleep, her nose only twitching a little to show that she felt the hit.
Jack stared in shock as the magic of his staff took over. He knew the staff was magically powered from the Moon, but even Jack had no clue on what it could do. With mild horror but fascination, he watched as the little girl's hair as black as ebony start to turn white as snow. Her tan-ish skin turned pale as well, losing the golden tone her skin used to be. Jack just stared at her in shock and awe before his brain came to a surprising realization: she looked like him. He stumbled backwards at the realization, and stumbled into the dresser behind him, knocking down her hair brush that had been hanging loosely on the edge. The noise of the brush hitting the floor was enough to wake up Weiss, and the little girl blinked her eyes open. Bright blue eyes instead of the auburn brown she used to have were staring at him, even if she couldn't see him.
Her eyes, her hair, her skin......in horror, Jack realized that the staff had somehow, someway, given her similar qualities of himself. He was essentially staring at a female version of himself. Little Weiss, still tired, saw the brush, put two-and-two together, and fell back asleep. Jack was given a few moments to grasp the situation before he fled the scene, leaving her window open behind him.
He never returned back to the Schnee estate. He never saw the reactions Mr. and Mrs. Schnee had towards the change in their daughter's appearance. He never saw little Weiss' reaction to herself. He never saw the joy she had when she found herself with pretty white hair.
He never saw the sad little frown the day she discovered that her guardian angel had abandoned her.

| Snow, although rare, wasn't uncommon for the Kingdom of Vale. The average was once a year, and the inches ranged anywhere from 2 inches to 6 inches. A fresh sheet of snow laid over Beacon's grounds, and classes were cancelled so students could enjoy the cold substance. From the safety of the library window, Weiss watched as her fellow teammates played in the snow (Yang had drug Blake along against her will). All of them were having fun, enjoying the phenomenon that only happened once in a while.
Weiss, however, remembered a time when little snow flurries would kick up in her front yard anytime she went outside to play. She had been a small child back then, full of imagination and lacking realism. She hadn't questioned why there had been snow on days where the sun shone brightly and there wasn't a cloud in the sky; she had been a child given an activity that made her feel less lonely. Those were the happier moments of her childhood that usually got her through her darkest days.
She was Weiss Schnee, heiress to the Schnee Dust Company. She could trace her family line back to the her beginning of Dust. As the heiress, her parents had kept her isolated throughout her childhood; she had no friends come over and play, and her parents were too busy with work to care for her. But she wasn't as miserable her first few years, because she had a Guardian Angel that watched over her. She always knew when her Guardian Angel was around, sensing him making snow for her to play on, watching her as she performed concerts for her stuffed dolls, and he even protected her from a Grimm that had found its way into the Schnee mansion.
The greatest gift her Guardian Angel had given was her appearance. She wasn't born with hair as white as the snow that laid on the grounds or skin as pale as frost or eyes as blue and bright as crystals. She had been born with hair as black and shiny as obsidian, eyes as brown as chocolates, and skin as fair as gold. All that had changed, one night.
When she had shown off her new look to her family, they had been horrified at first. They ran many tests on her, but the doctors informed her family that, although abnormal, there was nothing they could do. Her parents accepted this, and it took some time for them to fully appreciate their daughter's new looks. They had never let Weiss go to any party galas, so no stranger knew what she looked like before the change, and they hid all photographs that would contradict her new looks.
Little Weiss had been happy with her new looks, believing happily that it had been her Guardian Angel who gave it to her. She had tried showing it off to him, but he never appeared. She had always been able to sense him before, even if she never saw him. But he had just disappeared, taking the snow, the fun, the companionship away. It had broken her heart, and it was that day she had vowed to keep friendships at an arm's length.
Despite the pain, she still loved her Guardian Angel, still thought of him fondly because, although he had disappeared almost instantly, he had been there for her. He had been kind to her, provided her with fun activities to keep his lonely childhood less lonely. Every time it snowed, she'd remember her snow days out in the yard with him. She missed him throughout her childhood.
She watched her teammates start up a vicious snowball fight, watching as Yang and Ruby teamed up against Blake (who was pretty good compared to the sisters). Then, before her eyes, a boy appeared by a tree. He threw a snowball at Ruby (nailing her in the face) and then disappeared. Weiss blinked, staring at the spot he had been. He didn't show back up, and the snowball fight continued without the three girls ever thinking there had been a boy with them. He wasn't a student because he didn't look familiar. But he did look familiar to Weiss.
When she was little, she had started a snowball fight with her Guardian Angel and imaginary friends and had been hit, mysteriously, by a snowball. She had looked, and briefly saw a boy with white hair, pale skin, and clear blue eyes. He had disappeared almost immediately, but she had gotten a view of him, and it had validated in her mind that she had a Guardian Angel.
Weiss left the library. Her Guardian Angel was back, and she needed to see him again. She stepped into the snow and walked over to where the snowball fight was taking place. Her teammates didn't see her approach, and that was fine before she wasn't interested in joining their game. She wanted to find the boy and talk to him. She looked around the tree, trying to find him. He wasn't there. The untouched snow showed that no one had been there.
Sighing sadly (she was so close to seeing her Guardian Angel again), Weiss leaned against the tree and closed her eyes. Perhaps she was losing her mind. Something cold ran through her hair, and then something touched her hair like a kiss. Her eyes snapped open, and she looked for watch had done it. It hadn't been the wind, because it had only affected her hair. No one was around her, and the footprints in the snow were her own. Something frozen ran through her hair again, and this time, she thought she saw a pair of blue eyes looking at her. They disappeared a second later, but this time, Weiss knew she had seen them. She smiled at the invisible boy, a real smile that very few people saw, while a little snow flurry was brought upon to form a hill of snow, just like one from her childhood.
After years of hoping and waiting, her Guardian Angel had returned to her.
