The Reaping

A reaping is an annual event that takes place in every planet before each Grand Magix Game; where the tributes of the upcoming Games are chosen.
Each district's escort chooses the name of two tributes from separate two glass orbs. Those picked are then the official tributes for the upcoming Games. To be qualified for a reaping, one must be at least nine years old. Once of age, a potential-tribute's name is entered into the reaping one time. The entries are cumulative, so when a possible tribute is ten, their name is added one more time. This continues until age 18, when a potential-tribute's name is entered 7 times, or more if they apply for tesserae.
Each age group is contained in roped-off areas in the town square, waiting for someone to be picked. The reaping take place at different times in different districts, so that members can watch them all live on television. Many members of the public, who show little to no sympathy for the potential tributes, often place bets on who will be chosen.

Volunteering
If someone so chooses, they may volunteer to take the place of a tribute who is selected. This is often done by Career Tributes who spend their lives training to compete in the Grand Magix Games. It is sometimes done for other reasons, though.
The volunteering process is simple in every planet, to keep in note.
Interviews
The night before the start of each game, the presenters host an interview with each of the tributes. They are asked about their life back home, their time in Magix so far, and the reaping. The interviews are in order of districts with the female preceding the male tribute. Each interview is allotted three minutes per tribute. The main purpose of the interviews is to show the rest of Magix a little about each tribute to help them choose their favorite. There is always an interview with the tributes before each game begins, and another with the victor after the Games are over.

Sponsorship
Sponsorship helps in the procuring of useful tools for the tributes from Magix and their family and friends in their planet through donations from sponsors. Tributes are sponsored based on their first impression at the opening ceremonies, training scores, impression in the interviews, performance in the arena, and as well as a number of other factors. Donations from sponsors range from medicines to food to weapons and more, and are sent into the arena via silver-silk parachutes. . Keep in mind that they are the only ones who can advertise you, any actions involving advertising for people to vote for you will result to immediate elimination.
