I think the costume design and the art department for Winx Club was either very lazy or #smokingthatlilo during the design sessions for these clothes. The transformation outfits are cute (aside from those tights Flora has) but everything else just begs to ask if they were going over board with matching (dance outfits) or someone saw nana's quilt and thought 'this will look great on the Winx'

Sorry Lily, I love you and I think you're a wonderful girl, but those patchwork skirts are an abomination! The leopard print dresses are another atrocity. My friend Merissa saw them and thought they'd headed back to Biblical times and caught leprosy. LOL.

So no, this won't be a thread where everyone is going to agree with everyone else. We're obviously going to debate and not agree, But I feel that if we all respect each other things will be fine on this thread. So everyone do your worst and say how you really feel about all of the outfits for season 6 of Winx Club.

Maybe the patchwork will be worn if they go back in time or something? Maybe the animal print could be for going into an animal realm. You must dress accordingly after all. Razz

The patchwork skirts aren't really period clothing. I've researched clothing for a lot of different time periods from Middle ages to Victorian age and I can't see those fitting anywhere. The corset tops might fit into the mid 1800's in an American western saloon. The dresses though, no one wore skirts like that except in the 1970's to revitalize the prairie dress style.

As for the animal realm idea, I think just a touch of animal print for everyone would have been a lot better. Maybe a belt, or a top or shoes. Something subtle, definitely not a splash of pattern here and there.

If the Winx Club was time traveling I'd like to see some 18th Century French couture and some late 19th century bustles and evening wear. Then of course the 1920's flapper style

i like the season 6 uniforms but i also kinda get this feeling they were either lazy or trying to make it to where it seemed like a show that had a school full of people wearing uniforms....

My honest thoughts on the uniforms- I truly detest those.
Few reasons- first of all they're adults and they look like 6 and the only reason 20 years-old would want to look like that is because she has some serious psychological problems with accepting her own body image and own age (nice message to be sent to kids).

Other thing the amount of pink is overwhelming (and not only with those school outfits, but generally, even "dance sequence" cloths are all same and pink). I know it was suppose to look cute and sweet (specially for the younger audience), but with all that at once we are going too loose our teeth, or get diabetes real soon...
And third- what I loved about the characters was their individuality in behaviour and style, now all gone and it's hard to tell that Musa is tomboy, Tecna's a geek and Stella a fashion diva...

(Patchwork- yeah... yeah.)

As for the first transform- nice, quite new and refreshing, I'm not leggings fan, but it doesn't hurt my eyes (as in sirenix) and has more sense than high heel underwater...

Yeah... the Winx Club don't look and act like the age they're meant to be. Plus it's hard to sense their personalities that they've longed developed back in Seasons 1-3. Especially with Nick's dialogue feeling so bland. It could be me being biased when I'm more comfortable with the 4Kids' Winx, because I personally enjoy their characters in that version.

But still, it's fine for these girls to be in school still. I mean, Nick calls this the "Alfea College for Fairies". Not sure why because I thought Alfea was a high school ordeal. But nonetheless. I'm just hoping the Uniforms are only for school scenes and not all the time. We still see the Winx in their Season 5 clothes, despite how much I favor them even less.

most likely stella made the patchwork stuff and you know stella. She probably forgot to study before making clothes in another time period. Razz

So are you not going to watch the season because of the uniforms? I mean it really dosen't matter what they wear.

No, Wizplace but I fully plan on pointing out how terrible the clothes are. As far as I know we can still do that in this Forum. As fans, I'm sure we're not all going to blindly agree with everything happening in the show. There are some things that need to be fixed, the costume department is one of them.

And at least Lily still loves me

I think Studying fashion is something Stella should try to do more often then. It's really a very interesting subject. For example, she would learn that all the bikini's she's worn were invented in the 1940's to conserve material during the 2nd world war.

@Chocoroko- it was called college due to Italian education system where it's compulsory to learn till You 15-16, then (after completing at least one year of high school You free to choose). If You wish research it fr yourself I know I read it years ago when I tried understand it all and I remember nothing now...

@Domino Kitty- yeah Stella could learn more fashion history (and yes it is interesting) so she wouldn't say things as in the ep 601... but I'd say the winx bikini is younger than '40s judging by the look...
