is bloom a mary sue?

i really wanted to make this thread for many reasons.

so i was on tumblr and as per usual with the winx fandom many were arguing about bloom. claiming she's a mary sue and that winx is better without her blah blah blah ect.
this got me thinking is she a mary sue though?

many claim that a mary sue is somone who perfect but i see mary sue's as a charecter so perfect that they are never challenged by events of the naritive.
this might just seem like an extension to whart most people asume but it changes everything. we have seen in many seasons in winx bloom is challenged by other villans aswell as her own inner conflics like her dealing with her powers in season 1 aswell as trying to find her missing parents and kingdom throughout season 3 and secret of the lost kingdom. she is far from perfect as she constantly has struggles her and the rest of the winx deal with weather its the trix or the wizzards of the black circle. if you have charecter weakness's and soon lern to overcome them that isnt becoming a mary sue. it charecter progression, which is an essential part of charecterisation when it comes to any sort of media. bloom is never too good for the events around her therfore as a charecter shes still intresting even though the newer seasons of winx are weaker her charecter is still great in the commics.bloom may be incredibly powerfull compared to the rest of the winx but the villans still cause her to be challenged and she must overcome those challeges with the help of her freinds.

this is why bloom could be considerd as perfect but not as a mary sue as she dosent rise above the obsticles of her enviroments that they are no longer challenged at all.

a perfect charecter isnt that bad thing, a mary sue causes the veiwer distress out of boredom not perfection.

If Bloom was a sue, she wouldn't have gotten charmix for one. She wouldn't have had any faults to admit to. She has faults, she has issues with stuff. If she was a sue, she wouldn't be so insecure when it came to Sky in season 5. She gets hurt, etc etc. Power wise, the only sueish thing they did was force enchantix, but they at least didn't give her all the powers. As a writer, having a sue character is bad since readers don't want to see a perfect character, not being hurt, not having flaws etc etc. All I'm gonna say on the subject.

Most people think Bloom is cause she has everything and everything is always about her,
1- A boyfriend who is a king and the strongest and best specialist of red fountain
2-A king and queen as parents,
3-A sister who is the most powerful nymph of the magic dimension,
4-The most powerful magic in the whole universe'(the dragon flame),
5-She is a princess,one of the most popular fairies of all time,
6-A pet lol (kiko),
7-Her parents are the founder of the Company of Light(Oritel and Marion),
8-She defeated all the villains,
9-All her friends always worries about her,
10-She is a singer,
11-The villains always want something from Bloom or her family(Season 1&2:THE DRAGON FLAME,Season 3:To kill her or torture her,The Secret of the Lost Kingdom:Also to kill her,Season 5:Her sister's powers, Season 6:Her powers or to kill her again)
12-She formed the the Winx Club
13-She is always in the spotlight.
14-Her boyfriend is the typical prince charming.
15-She is the main hero and the other Winx are her sidekicks

Well here are some reasons people think she's a Mary sue but i am completely against it.
I love Bloom as a character and I also love the way she has grown since season 1.
Bloom in season 1 had low self confidence because she was scared that she might lose her best friends and her parents and she didn't believe in her self.
Trough the seasons i watched Bloom grow in many different, she is now capable of sacrificing herself for others and she would do everything she could to save the people she loved and also the Magic Dimension. She is not afraid of telling her opinion or the face a new enemy.
She is hard at forgiving herself for trusting the wrong people as seen in Episode 10 when she almost feed poison to Flora but she was able to overcome that problem by believing in herself and also thanks to her best friends.
Bloom has always been grateful for having Stella,Flora,Musa,Tecna and Aisha as best friends and she knows she wouldn't have been able to overcome all these problems and her owns without them.
So basically I don't think Bloom is a mary sue, she is just an ordinary girl who happens to be a princess and the keeper of the Dragon Flame with great friends, caring sister,loving birth and adoptive parents, enemies and a wonderful,lovely and caring pet rabbit named Kiko! Smile

exactly i see allot of winx fans using that arguments to claims shes a mary sue and while there are some points that need to be taken into consideration like how shes always in the spotlight i feel that allot of winx fans arn't thinking about the other aspects of her and only focusing on the main charecter status and claiming shes a mary sue. its a shame but i understand where the bloom hate is comming from .-.

I can also see where the hate is coming from but they have to face that every cartoon show or anime has a principal character also called as Leader of the group.
Just name a show: Sailor Moon(Serena),Code lyoko(Aelita),Ben 10(Ben),Winx Club(Bloom),Totally Spies(Clover),X men(Wolverine)....
Even tough she can be so annoying sometimes, Bloom is a true leader,a friend but not a mary sue.

I agree Bloom is not a mary sue

1. She can be insecure at times
2. Sometimes Bossy
3. Self centered
4. Sometimes her emotions take control like leaving alfea
5. Sometimes low on self confidence

exacly there are always main charecters who are the bes in their groups but they never get hate (EG. twiligh sparkle) but for some reason bloom gets an amount of hate. its not right .-.

Yeah why Bloom? Most people hate Bloom because of the Enchantix arc, that she willed herself into an enchantix but they were consequences like she couldn't use miniaturize.
Those who hate Bloom can only stop watching Winx Club, that's the only solution!

Some people fail to see the negatives that a character has. They just center on what they and don't want to see what offsets that.
