| This is one of my least favourite adult issues, having to pay bills with a very small amount of money. My province expected my husband to pay his rent and bills with 900$ a month. Now they expect him to do it with 1243$ minus the 95$ they take for the electric. Well, except for yesterday. Yesterday he got 672$ because they took out 475$ from my child support. In BC you are allowed to make 800$ before they start taking out the difference from your check. My child support, even when converted to Canadian funds (it's in American dollars) still isn't 800$ only 512$ at the current exchange rate. Even if Lee was only allowed 500$ still, he would have only had 12$ taken out- if that- not the entire amount. What's even worse is that Abby and I aren't even considered his dependents by the province because of our immigration status even though we're his dependents under federal law. So Lee doesn't get to claim my older daughter and I and get assistance for us, yet they suddenly wanted my child support declared or they'd withhold the check indefinitely. And now they deducted nearly 1/2 of Lee's disability check because of money that I get for Abby.
Lee's (my husband) going to Social services this morning. I'm dropping him off before I take Lilli with me to get our hamper from Salvation Army. Then, hopefully something gets fixed. If not, Lee said he's calling up CHBC (our local news station) and telling them what happened. He is supposed to get 1143$ because the province pays 1/2 of our electric and then takes 95$ out to pay the rest.
It's absolutely laughable because the province gives him 570$ for shelter and our rent alone is 910$ nearly double the shelter allowance. They also give you a pitiful 80$ extra in November to buy your kids some gifts. So this is why I'm short tempered. My husband spent most of yesterday afternoon shooting things on Halo 4.

| Gosh, that sounds pretty awful. My mom and dad are certainly having similar problems, so my family's not alone at least. The government seems to have a knack for being completely useless in pretty much every country. | |

| Sorry to hear about that Kyraii. I honestly thought that in a more socialist country it would be a little less craptastic.
My husband just got off the phone with the people we gave the paperwork to. They ARE allowed to take ALL of this money even though he can't claim my daughter and I as dependents. So he's calling the MLAs (kind of like local reps in the US) and we're also calling the news station. Because this is Bull Corn.
I have to moderate my language LOL.
